Dell has launched a laptop of Inspiron series after making the laptop lovers wait for long time. Dell Inspiron 15R is the new laptop of Inspiron series which has almost all the features to satisfy the needs of people who want laptop for general requirement. It is a well balanced laptop of medium range which can be used for educational purpose as well as entertainment or gaming purpose. As it is a middle range of laptop it has some pros and cons which will be discussed in this Dell Inspiron 15R review.
Size and Weight
Talking about the physical features first, it has 15.6″ widescreen which is the probable reason why 15R is added in its name. Its shiny metallic exterior makes it look quite more expensive than it originally is. It has width of 14.80″, height 1.25″ and depth 10.31″ and it weighs only 2.64kg which makes it quite comfortable for the users to carry from one place to another. Color and contrast of screen is good but shiny finish disturbs the eyes sometimes. Viewing from different angles gives poor color vision so for best observation one should operate it by sitting in front of the screen and not in angles.
Connectivity
It has several ports in the sides i.e. 3 USB 2.0, HDMI port, VGA port, LAN, AC adapter connector and audio input and output ports. Located on the right side are DVD drive and one of the three USB ports. Kensington lock, charger port, VGA port, 2 USB ports and Ethernet port are located on the left side of the laptop. Keyboard has all the keys which are found in a normal keyboard. Size of all the keys is same as normal keyboard except the keys of number pad. Keys of number pad are narrower but when operated no problem is faced generally. Its touchpad is large in size and accurate in operations but buttons do not respond that well.
Performance
Without discussing about performance Dell Inspiron 15R review will be incomplete because this laptop gives better performance than expected when price is considered. It has Intel Core i5-2410 processor with Genuine Windows 7 home premium operating system which touches the satisfactory level of users. Hard drive is of 640 GB 5400 RPM SATA which allows the user to store many files. In the field of gaming, it is perfect because it contains Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 1.6 GB of Dynamic Video Memory capacity. But unfortunately this laptop is not made for someone who wants to play 3D games.
Display and Multimedia
Sound is video quality is good when videos and sound tracks of HD quality is played. It has a webcam of 1.3 MP which gives scope for video calling and chatting. It also has Bluetooth and 7-in-1 card reader which provides scope for connecting several devices with laptop.
Although it is a good laptop overall, Dell Inspiron 15R review cannot be ended before letting you know that it has 6 cell battery which provides wireless using for maximum 2.5 hours. But assembling a 9 cell battery can remove this con and make the laptop one of the best with consideration to price.
